Ode to a Handsome Dog...

He was, perhaps, the ugliest puppy I had ever seen. A shepherd mix of some sort, about three months old and probably 35 pounds, with a large black mask, a long curly tail, and the most enormous ears I'd ever seen. He looked very much like a baby donkey...

Chimpanzee (Disney Movie) - GO during first week Apr. 20-26

Go see Disney's new movie, Chimpanzee (Rated G, 78 mins.), during the first week, April 20-26, 2012, and a portion of the proceeds will go to the Jane Goodall Research Institute!!

Disneynature takes moviegoers deep into the forests of Africa with "Chimpanzee," a new True Life Adventure introducing an adorable young chimpanzee named Oscar and his entertaining approach to life in a remarkable story of family bonds and individual triumph.  Oscar's playful curiosity and zest for discovery showcase the intelligence and ingenuity of some of the most extraordinary personalities in the animal kingdom. Working together, Oscar's chimpanzee family - including his mom, Isha, and the group's savvy leader, Freddy - navigates the complex territory of the forest.

The world is a playground for little Oscar and his fellow young chimpanzees, who'd rather make mayhem than join their parents for an afternoon nap. But when Oscar's family is confronted by a rival band of chimpanzees, he is left to fend for himself until a surprising ally steps in and changes his life forever.  Directed by Alastair Fothergill ("African Cats" and "Earth") and Mark Linfield ("Earth"), and narrated by Tim Allen (ABC's "Last Man Standing"), "Chimpanzee" swings into theaters on April 20, 2012, just in time for Earth Day.

Pup born without paw will still work as service dog (photos/video)

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The puppies at Alpharetta, Georgia's Canine Assistants have a destiny and a purpose.  They will grow up to be service dogs.

These highly trained, huge-hearted canines help physically and emotionally, enabling the disabled to have independence, confidence and happiness.

So imagine when one of these puppies, perfectly suited for a life of service, is born less than perfect.

"He was born without a foot," explained Dr. Kent Bruner, Canine Assistants veterinarian and husband of founder Jennifer Arnold. "What we think happened is the umbilical cord got wrapped around his foot and caused that foot to not have a normal blood supply."

"Abby" the Saint Bernard Dog & her stray kitten

Huffington Post writes:  If cute things don't make you happy, you may have stumbled on to the wrong webpage - because, seriously, this one is epically cute. Saint-Bernard-dog-looking-after-a-stray-kitten cute, in fact.
Abby is the name of the massive, mothering mutt in question, and she's looking after this four-month-old stray kitten after her owners brought him into her home.
Occasionally mistaking the Beethoven look-alike for his mum, the kitty cat nibbles away at Abby, looking for a teat to suckle on. More often than not, he actually ends up gnawing at Abby's leg, the poor dear.
It is, without a shadow of a doubt, the cutest 'animal adopting another animal outside its species' video we've ever seen.

Max da Cat, Dave, Cat Addiction, & Litter Clump Art - ya gotta read!!

Meet Dave and his cat, Max.

"Hi my name is Dave and I am a recovering member of Cat-Holics-Anonymous (CHA). As part of my rehab it helps to tell about the obsession I have of being Max Da Cat. When my eighth life passed before my eyes I knew time was running out and I sought help at (CHA). It is my hope that my coming out will help other Cat-Holics face up to their addiction and join (CHA). Look forward to reading Max's short stories here when I am suffering from a relapse. My other therapeutic outlet is designing Litter Clump Art and posting it with my stories. Hopefully Max's tales will amuse you and take your mind off the hustle and bustle of your busy life. If you are a cat lover like me I am sure you can relate to the complexities of Max's personality. My story starts out quite innocently as do most addictions."  Read the rest of their story...and find Max and Dave on Twitter @MaxsClumpArt
